Last year I launched the Walker Studios Challenge, a Video Blogging Challenge set to encourage Businesses, Individuals and Charities to raise awareness of themselves and their missions by placing themselves on the second largest search engine in the world; YouTube. Some people found this comical, some found it engaging and others found it helped boost their confidence.
Sooner or later you are all going to notice a big shake up if you visit the Twitter Website, assuming you haven’t already. Twitter has done away with the old @Mentions and Retweets Tabs and replaced them with two new gems, the @username (for me @walkerstudios) and Activity Tabs.
Recently, Nathaniel Cassidy of Duchess of Grange wrote a Blog entitled “Never link your social media profiles!“, which is ironic because I had in the works (AKA my head) a plan for a similar post. Rather than “reinvent the wheel” as Nathaniel did an excellent job with his post I am going to refine mine down to a specific. Do not have LinkedIn automatically update with your Tweets.
While sitting at work the other day I saw a message flash up that Tweasier was looking for some guest content, and after asking them if I could join in they agreed. My topic of choice, Follow Friday. They mentioned that they have a blog post related to the subject, which is about a tool that lets you automatically sort out your Follow Fridays, see here for their post.
Tuesday 12th October 2010 signalled my first TweetUp. I attended the Preston TweetUp held by BlogPreston with sponsorship from Stage9. By Sponsorship I of course mean them advertising themselves and the TweetUp a lot and bought everyone their first drink down at The Continental in Preston.
Last night I attended the Annual Central Lancashire Business Event in the Pines Hotel in Chorley. Seeing none of the other usual Social Media people I know I thought to myself that this would be a prime networking opportunity. First though we had to sit through a few guest speakers.
First up, a Social Media Expert. Didn’t my confidence take a slight knock? I think so…
If you look closely at my Twitter, Facebook or this blog even you may have noticed something new and different. For instance, the main point of call even, my logo has changed. That would be because Walker Studios is no longer a student portfolio of work, but is now fully operating as “Walker Studios – Multimedia Design & Social Media Solutions” (holds for applause).
So the virus that is causing havoc on Twitter posts a tweet to your page that automatically throws up this roll over and causes mass chaos by Retweeting itself to all your followers and then ties up your web based Twitter.
A virus has just hit Twitter, for more details check the link below
So, as I have probably mentioned before, I like social media and networking. A Lot. So, when one of my favourite Tweeters invited me to meet over a brew, I jumped at the chance. I met the amazing Amanda Jackson, of Tigerfish PR to have a discussion about Twitter and the Social Networking world in general.
