Last year I launched the Walker Studios Challenge, a Video Blogging Challenge set to encourage Businesses, Individuals and Charities to raise awareness of themselves and their missions by placing themselves on the second largest search engine in the world; YouTube. Some people found this comical, some found it engaging and others found it helped boost their confidence.
The Walker Studios Challenge 2012
Welcome back to the Walker Studios Challenge 2012. For those of you who didn’t join us last year the premise is simple, over the course of a month you record a Vlog (That’s Video Blog for those of us still behind the times) about whatever you want to talk about, your personal life or your business, or a topic that’s close to your heart, like a charity, event or something of the like.
The Walker Studios Challenge takes place over the course of a month. The idea is to get a scope of information over the period of time, either by recording and uploading multiple VLogs, or recording as you go and just piecing them together, or a few minutes here and there. How you participate is up to yourself.
The Benefits of taking part is that you get to share what is important to you with the world via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc. As a community I encourage all participants to like, comment on and share each others videos and posts, helping everyone reach as wide an audience as possible.
Aside from that it gets people doing something they don’t normally do, and hopefully helps build up their confidence levels.
Task: Vlog and upload to YouTube
When: 15th October – 15th November
Share: Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogs, Websites, Google+
Who: Whoever wants to!
Seeking to spread a little more light on the details of the Walker Studios Challenge and getting a little more face to face time with the camera before it all kicks off on Monday, here I am explaining more about the Walker Studios Challenge and what it means to me, and hopefully to those taking part.
The following is a video filmed in Avenham and Miller Park in Preston on Easter Monday 2011 during the annual Egg Rolling.
YouTube has performed a miracle for a man named Ted Williams, who until the posting of a video on YouTube was homeless and using his “Golden Voice” to earn a few dollars on the side of the road in America.
The Columbus Dispatch Videographer, Doral Chenoweth III, filmed a quick interview with Ted after coming across him at the side of the road and uploaded it to the video sharing website YouTube, where the video went Viral, with one copy, uploaded on the 6th January 2011 by RussiaToday boasting 6,374,157 views at the time of writing.
This Tutorial suites two purposes, Skype is a very useful business tool, allowing users to call and video call each other for free. This allows users to have face to face, or voice contact with a company for no cost to either party, it’s a win/win situation! Secondly I need to tell my mother how to use Skype since we live in different companies, believe me, if she understands it, you will too (sorry mum)!
If the steps are confusing or if you get lost, I’ve posted a gallery at the bottom to help you along.
