Last year I launched the Walker Studios Challenge, a Video Blogging Challenge set to encourage Businesses, Individuals and Charities to raise awareness of themselves and their missions by placing themselves on the second largest search engine in the world; YouTube. Some people found this comical, some found it engaging and others found it helped boost their confidence.
For a few years now I have been preaching the power of Social Media, and in Northern Ireland it has fallen somewhat on deaf ears. In England it caught on, but not to everyone, but Northern Ireland really don’t seem to get it. Last night, something happened that I hope the majority of businesses in Northern Ireland saw. A Television advert of two parts was aired on UTV (ITV/STV) that asked users to vote for how they wanted the second half of the advert to go via Facebook and Twitter.
The Walker Studios Challenge 2012
Welcome back to the Walker Studios Challenge 2012. For those of you who didn’t join us last year the premise is simple, over the course of a month you record a Vlog (That’s Video Blog for those of us still behind the times) about whatever you want to talk about, your personal life or your business, or a topic that’s close to your heart, like a charity, event or something of the like.
The Walker Studios Challenge takes place over the course of a month. The idea is to get a scope of information over the period of time, either by recording and uploading multiple VLogs, or recording as you go and just piecing them together, or a few minutes here and there. How you participate is up to yourself.
The Benefits of taking part is that you get to share what is important to you with the world via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc. As a community I encourage all participants to like, comment on and share each others videos and posts, helping everyone reach as wide an audience as possible.
Aside from that it gets people doing something they don’t normally do, and hopefully helps build up their confidence levels.
Task: Vlog and upload to YouTube
When: 15th October – 15th November
Share: Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogs, Websites, Google+
Who: Whoever wants to!
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 2,900 times in 2011. If it were a cable car, it would take about 48 trips to carry that many people.
Sooner or later you are all going to notice a big shake up if you visit the Twitter Website, assuming you haven’t already. Twitter has done away with the old @Mentions and Retweets Tabs and replaced them with two new gems, the @username (for me @walkerstudios) and Activity Tabs.

So far there has been a lot of people declaring support for The Walker Studios Challenge. So that everyone can see who is taking part and add their name to the list I’ve compiled the following list of participants
Seeking to spread a little more light on the details of the Walker Studios Challenge and getting a little more face to face time with the camera before it all kicks off on Monday, here I am explaining more about the Walker Studios Challenge and what it means to me, and hopefully to those taking part.
